4 tips to start your writing journey

You have a full life, whether it’s working, supporting aging family members, raising children etc. YOU are busy, and adding anything to your load seems impossible. But you have creative ideas and thoughts you wonder about sharing, and it keeps nagging at you to do something about it. Maybe you have thought about writing a blog, a book, or submitting to a publication, but you know you don’t have time.

Finding the time is often the hardest part about getting started on your writing journey. We all have valuable life experiences, advice, and stories to share, and YOUR voice can share them in your unique way. So let's move past self doubt and accept that your voices and ideas matter and it’s worth sharing it with others.

The hardest part is getting started and finding time to think of your content ideas and write.

Today, I am going to share with you 4 tips to help you start your writing journey.

  1. Schedule time to think and write, if you don’t prioritize it, it won't happen. There is always a client to serve and laundry to be done.

  2. Use the notes app on your phone to write down ideas when they come or write on the go while you are busy living life.

  3. Use tools to convert speech to text, google docs has a free voice typing function. Previously I wrote a blog post about my daughter winning a ninja warrior competition. I got home and used speech to text to dump my ideas quickly on paper. In the future when I was ready to turn the ideas into a blog I had a head start.

  4. Go to a coffee shop, sometimes changing your location can help you focus on your task and get the creative juices flowing. Oh and get a motivational drink, you deserve it!

It is not easy to get started, but if you want to STOP thinking about it, you need to GET started. For example, when I started blogging, I had barely even read blogs. I had no idea what I was doing. But I took it one step at a time, and over time I got better and it got a lot easier. I still have more to learn, but if you don’t start, you will never know what you are capable of!

Good luck in your writing journey, I can’t wait to see what you do with it!

Whatever you want in life, other people are going to want it too. Believe in yourself enough to accept the idea that you have an equal right to it.
